Breakdown by Volume
Dive into how system sizes are distributed across Australia with our Breakdown by Volume view.
This page flips the perspective—rather than showing how states contribute to national volume, it shows how different system size segments contribute within each state or territory. Whether you’re interested in residential uptake or commercial-scale installs, this chart makes it easy to visualise the system size trends in a specific region.

What This Page Shows
The doughnut chart displays the proportion of installed solar capacity within a selected state or territory, broken down into three main system size categories:
- 0–15kW– Residential-scale systems
- 15–40kW – Small commercial installations
- 40–100kW – Medium commercial systems
Each section is labelled with:
- The number of installations or volume (in kW) for that size segment
- The percentage share of the total installations in that region
This gives a quick overview of the system size profile in any given state.
Filter by State or Territory
You can toggle between:
- National (for an Australia-wide view)
- Individual states/territories (NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, WA, ACT, NT, TAS)
This allows you to explore, for example:
- Which states are still dominated by small residential systems
- Where commercial adoption is gaining traction
- How the system mix changes from region to region
Data Coverage
Please note: all figures reflect installations completed in 2025 under the Small-scale Technology Certificates (STC) scheme. This ensures the most up-to-date and relevant view of current market dynamics.
