The first quarter of 2026 marked a period of robust growth for Australia’s renewable energy sector. National solar PV installations reached 845,600kW across nearly 80,000 systems, reflecting a steady upward trend through March. Simultaneously, the battery market saw massive adoption with over 3.67 million kWh installed. New South Wales emerged as the undisputed leader in both categories, accounting for 30% of the national solar market and a dominant 37.9% of total battery capacity.
The competitive landscape was defined by clear frontrunners in volume and scale. Energybuild secured the top spot on the solar leaderboard, installing 13,374kW and capturing a 1.58% market share. In the battery sector, Solar System Australia led the charge by a significant margin, deploying 98,336kWh across 2,353 systems. These figures reflect a highly fragmented yet rapidly expanding market, where state-led demand continues to drive record-breaking installation volumes nationwide.
